“The cornerstone of my thesis is a live installation piece, in which a young girl, downtrodden and underemployed, dons a tattered windsock. The windsock’s resemblance to the Prada dress that girl from True Grit wore to the SAG Awards underscores the deconstruction of the capitalist subjugation of natural female beauty into the strict hetero-normative narrative of what the average American might call ‘looking sober’ or ‘like an adult.’ She looks neither, of course. This has something to do with commercial airlines. And possibly wind? I don’t know. Doesn’t her hat remind you of Duck Tales?”
